In Britain, November means big bangs, fizzing fireworks and blazing bonfires. So wrap up warm and join us on a fiery journey around Britain’s best Bonfire Nights and firework displays.

Mary St Ottery, Devon

Stand well back as the townspeople of Mary St Ottery lug flaming barrels through the streets on 5 November. The origins of this annual ritual have been lost but it’s one the locals are fiercely proud of. A 30ft bonfire, fireworks and a fairground add to the fun.

Lord Mayor’s Fireworks, London

This free display on 14 November marks the end of the Lord Mayor’s Show. It includes more than half a tonne of giant fireworks, some of which shoot over 600ft into the sky before exploding. The display takes a team of 8 pyrotechnicians 2 days to set up. It's one of London's most spectacular annual displays and you'll be able to see the fireworks for miles. For the best views head down to Victoria Embankment.

Glasgow Green Fireworks, Glasgow

Get down to Glasgow Green to see Scotland’s largest organised fireworks display on 5 November. This 30-minute long free event is set to music with live bands, a funfair and some very impressive lasers.

Indiana Jones Fireworks, Legoland Windsor

As dusk falls, you can catch this sizzling Indiana Jones-themed firework display which promises to be the Park’s best show to date. For an added treat, there’s the chance to enjoy some of the most popular rides under the cover of darkness when Legoland stays open for an extra hour after the main fireworks display. Shows take place on 24, 25, 30 and 31 October and 1 and 7 November.

Sparks in the Park, Cardiff

On Saturday 31 October, Cardiff's Cooper's Field will be host to one of the largest firework events in the UK known as Sparks in the Park. Enjoy a spectacular display of pyrotechnics alongside a colossal bonfire, music, funfair rides, food stalls and many other family attractions. If you‘re feeling brave you can also try fire walking! All proceeds go to charity.

Penrhos Beach, Holyhead, Anglesey

Head to the island of Anglesey in Wales on 5 November for Bonfire Night on the beach. Watch in wonder as rockets explode over Holyhead Bay and fireworks cascade over the sand. There’s also a fair, local music and seaside rides for the kids.

Roundhay Park, Leeds

The biggest display in the Leeds area promises to be an absolute cracker. Join the crowd for live music, thundering fireworks and a gigantic bonfire. This free event takes place on 5 November.

Blackheath, London

The free Blackheath display on 7 November is one of London’s best with some of the largest and loudest fireworks you’ll see. Fireworks Spectacular, Tutbury Castle, Staffordshire
