Blackpool’s celebrated Illuminations sparkle all through October until 5 November. See dazzling displays of light and colour as one of Britain’s best-loved seaside resorts is bathed in magical light.
Blackpool’s annual Illuminations have been lighting up the resort for over 100 years and cover an area of just under 6 miles. The enormous free display uses the latest in lighting technology to create a dazzling light show along Blackpool’s famous seafront.
This year, look out for the Rengoli Peacock, a hi-tech tableau comprising a magnificent illuminated peacock as the centrepiece, together with screens either side featuring videos of traditional Indian dancing. It tells the story of Divali, the Hindu festival of lights that coincides with the timing of the Illuminations.
You’ll also see a whole Dr Who section near the Pleasure Beach with scary Daleks, tardises and 3 new monsters as well as pulsing LED displays and laser tableaus creating a myriad of shapes and colours for all to see.
Blackpool also has thrilling rides, including the Pepsi Max Big One at the Pleasure Beach theme park, the longest indoor rollercoaster waterslide in the world at the Sandcastle water park and the famous Blackpool Tower with its family circus.
